After defeating the Elite Four, the player may go to the Weather Institute on Route 119 and the meteorologist will talk of unusual weather patterns in certain routes. If the meteorologist talks of a drought, Groudon will be in Terra Cave. If the meteorologist talks of downpours, Kyogre will be in Marine Cave. Both Terra Cave and Marine Cave are randomly in one of four routes. Also, once the player reaches Terra Cave or Marine Cave, they will not be able to go to the other location unless they either defeat or capture Groudon or Kyogre respectively.
