They can be a nuisance as they use a variety of status spells to cripple the party, and otherwise drain their MP with Rasp and Osmose. If struck by magic they have a chance to counter with Fallen Footsteps, which inflicts Zombie. They act as a good source of elemental rods which can no longer be bought in the World of Ruin: the Thunder and Ice Rods can be stolen from them, and they drop Flame Rods.
