Darth Sidious was the name of a Sith Lord who lived during the invasion of Naboo in 23 BBY. He was the apprentice of Darth Plagueis until 46 BBY, in which Sidious betrayed his master and killed him on Dathomir. Sometime before 23 BBY, Sidious had taken the former Jedi Knight, Khameir Sarin, under his wing and made him his apprentice, Darth Maul. The two then met Neimoidian viceroy of the Trade Federation, Nute Gunray and helped combine his Battle droid armies with others to form the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
