Outside of Wikia, those wikis are often attacked by spammers and become unusable until the host pulls them down. Wikis inside Wikia are often lucky enough to be revived after a period of hibernation as anyone is welcome to come in and relaunch the wiki with asking permission from whoever created it in the first place.
