The gate itself is made of the same material as the dyson sphere and is known as a "hypergate", which works much the same as a jump gate yet spanning a wider distance. It consists of six pieces, three being small spikes, and three being large, curved sections, which make the ring itself. The ring is damaged and broken, however, and appears to be very very old.
