Professor Tolen Ren was among the top engineering physicists and the principal inventor responsible for Banean warship technology and weapons research. Professor Ren developed four generations of navigational arrays for Banean ships. He was married to Lidell Ren. In 2371, Professor Ren offered to help the crew of USS Voyager replace its damaged collimator. Ren was able to help; however, Voyager's visit was used as an opportune moment by Numiri operatives to steal his weapons research by murdering Ren and framing Tom Paris for the crime.
