Cursing the fig tree is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels, namely in Mark 11:12–14 and Matthew 21:18–22. According to the Gospel, Jesus was hungry, and: Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see whether perhaps he would find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. He said to it, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’ And his disciples heard it. In the Gospel of Matthew the fig tree withers immediately, while in the Gospel of Mark (11:20-24), the tree is noticed as having withered by the next day.
