Lorta was a female Klingon in the Klingon Defense Force in the 23rd century. As of 2287, Lieutenant Lorta was assigned as chief of security of the IKS Terthos. That year, while the ship was at Starbase 49 for peace talks with the Federation, Lorta teamed up with Commander Pavel Chekov, security chief of the USS Enterprise, to investigate a series of explosions and attempted terroristic acts during the summit.
