The most typical jobs in the legal industry include: Lawyer - Subdivided (in some countries) into a Barrister (a lawyer who appears before a judge in a court) and a solicitor (a lawyer who deals with documents and processes but does not go to court). Attorney is another word for a lawyer. Legal Secretary - A secretary with specific skills in legal work. Paralegal - Not a full lawyer, but able to conduct legal research and participate in some aspects of the law. Judge - Generally a position one must be appointed to. Rules on how judges are selected vary considerably from country to country.
