Biello was the secret owner of The Wagon Wheel and Peppermint Lounge in New York City until 1965 when Genovese capo Matthew Ianniello took them over. Biello was a longtime member of the Genovese crime family and first came to prominence under the leadership of legendary mob boss Lucky Luciano. At some point Biello known as "Johnny Futto", moved to Miami where he became a dance hall owner and ran a crew of mobsters involved in various rackets.
