The National Guard of the Allied States is the home guard militant force of the Allied States of America, which acts as a last line of defense against foreign invasion, local uprising, terrorism, or civil disobedience. Members (referred to as Guardsmen or, more recently, Peacekeepers) are allowed to hold full-time civilian jobs, however, are required to attend training and/or briefing sessions every fortnight. In times of need, these Guardsmen are required to be active at all times, suspending their normal civilian lives. As of April 2012, the National Guard is completely independent from both the Army and Navy, thus no "army" National Guard or "air" National Guard exists anymore.
