Apparently, long before the start of the game, the PlumbBob appeared over his head, and it forced him to do things he did not want to do. He became depressed by the stress and aggravation of it all. He described that time in his life as a work-buy treadmill. Doctor Newlow then invented a helmet to control the green diamond and manipulate other people. He then goes on to tell the player how he or she is the main one being controlled. While everyone is stuck to the same routines, the player seems to be the only one acting on his or her own volition. His mission is to take control of the player.
