James Sheridan (May 27, 1832 – November 9, 1893) was a Union Navy sailor in the American Civil War and a recipient of the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions at the Battle of Mobile Bay. Sheridan's official Medal of Honor citation reads: Sheridan died on November 9, 1893, at age 61 and was buried in Brooklyn, New York City.
