Gustave Magnel (Essen, 15 september 1889 – Ghent 5 July 1955) was a Belgian engineer and Professor at the (then) University of Ghent. In 1912 he obtained a degree in civil engineer and Assistant. He is considered a pioneer in the experimental research of concrete and concrete mortars in Belgium, and was a specialist in reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete. In 1928 by the French engineer Eugène Freyssinet along with Jean Scailles of prestressed concrete obtained the patent .
