Initially broadcast in 1987, Return of the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman was the first of three reunion made-for-TV films bringing together the original casts of the two series. It was a "backdoor pilot" for a potential spin-off series centered around Michael Austin that never materialized. It was followed in 1989 by Bionic Showdown. After 10 years apart, Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers reunite to take on international terrorists, Austin's estranged son, and their own romantic past.
