The Mourning Mermaid is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. It is a stone sculpture of Martha found near Martha's Bay. The statue came to be when the alligator artist, Schule Donavitch, used Martha as a model in creating what would become his "masterpiece". After the sculpture was complete, it was placed on the shore of Martha's Bay, blocking off the entrance to a mysterious cave.
