The 2008 Dickies 500 was a Sprint Cup Series event held at Texas Motor Speedway on November 2, 2008. Carl Edwards and team decided to do what no one had before done in trying to catch Jimmie Johnson - gamble. Instead of hoping for Johnson to make a mistake, Edwards gambled the dice on fuel and grabbed his second straight race, holding off polesitter Jeff Gordon.
