We can no longer allow the debate on healthcare in this country to be dominated by preservation of the corporate health interests, while the American people have less and less access to quality care. The only sensible approach is a universal, single-payer method. This way we pool the power of 300 million Americans, thereby assuring the 85 to 90% healthy folks offset the cost of the 10 to 15% of the population that will use the majority of health services at any given time. Under our current system the pools of members in a group are too small, so the cost of coverage is much more expensive than need be.
