Tom McGill was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. He was killed at the Battle of Grendelsbane. His family had a long tradition of naval service. In 1921 PD his father was a senior-grade captain in line to receive command of a Edward Saganami-C-class heavy cruiser, his mother, a psychologist, was detached from Bassingford Medical Center to work with Dr. Adelina Arif on the treecat commission and Heather McGill, his sister, was the Tactical Officer aboard the HMS Reprise.
