Jeff Durkin was a worker at Weatherfield General hospital who, along with some other colleagues, joined Karl Foster for a drink after work, an event to which Todd Grimshaw, newly employed as a porter, was invited. During the evening, Karl made subtle but sure signs to Todd that he was attracted to him. While Todd got on very well with Karl, he wasn't yet able to admit his homosexuality to himself and therefore reciprocate the advances. The character of Jeff was played by Jamie Lomas who later became engaged to Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor).
