In 2009, the Destiny expedition attempted dialing the ship's Stargate inside a star during an attempt to reach Earth. However a solar flare interfered with the wormhole during the process and, instead of sending the crew to Earth, they were sent 2000 years back in time to the planet. Due to the harsh conditions on the planet, they sought shelter in a cave nearby but were forced to abandon the planet when it was discovered that its atmosphere was too thin to sustain humans for an long time.
