Claire Baker became Deputy Praetor in January 2578. She became the Leader of the Baltusian Democratic Party on June 12, 2582. Baker was the suprise victor in the 2583 elections. Anti-Amets Ansola voters decided to vote against the embattled Praetor and Mark Travaglius. Claire Baker won 36.66% on the first ballot, while Ansola won only 23.11%. The 2583 elections were the Democrats best election results since the July 2504 elections. Two years later, she resigned as leader and as Praetor. Many members of the Baltusian Democrats quickly joined other parties, however, a few remained.
