Due to her critical illness of Parkinson's disease, her son Héctor spent a large part of his life either taking care of her or drinking heavily. To make Héctor's life easier, and as a goodbye present, Marina heals Carlotta to full health. From then on Marina became Carlotta's angel. Carlotta also adopts Legacy the cat and renames him Feo.
