The Fire Lord is the title given to the supreme ruler of the Fire Nation. In ancient times, the title was held by Sozin. Years later, it passed to his son, Azulon. After Azulon's death, it passed to his younger son Ozai. Eventually, Ozai promoted himself to a new rank called the Phoenix King, and named his daughter Azula as the new Fire Lord. Azula went mad, however, and was forcibly deposed by her younger brother Zuko, who ruled for 7 decades. His daughter currently holds the position as Fire Lord.
