The Octavo was a book that contained the eight spells supposedly left by the Creator of the Discworld. It is kept locked in the basement of the Unseen University's library, for safety of the browsers, not the book. Despite its importance, its appearance was rather plain with a picture of Bel-Shamharoth on the cover.
