The Star Defender-class cruiser, colloquially known simply as Star Defenders, was a wedge-shaped cruiser class of similar design to the bigger Venator-class. The Star Defender-class lacked the ventral hangar bay and the port and starboard indentations of its bigger cousins. It also differed in that it had one command bridge, unlike the Venators, which had two. Although, most of the time, it lacked the burgundy color scheme that denoted diplomatic status in the Republic, it did sport fewer guns to promote the pacifistic stance favored by the Republic. The ship class was commissioned in 14 BBY and saw extensive service in the years following.
