The Union of Free Planets was the precursor government to the Bespin Commonwealth. It was formed, presumably, on Bespin after Lando Calrissian and his soldiers liberated the planet from the Galactic Empire in 4 ABY. It could also have been the organization that the Yeda Rebel Forces joined, thus creating the Yeda Rebel Alliance.
