The reason for their rivalry is revealed only in the history "Arizona Goof and the return of doctor Kranz" from 1992, after graduating together with Arizona Goof in archeology, with honors and praise, Kranz rushes towards the greatest mysteries but, while Arizona Goof is a true lover of archeology and adventure, Kranz is only an exploiter who wants to get rich and become a famous archaeologist. One day, they discover a powerful gun of extraterrestrial origin and Kranz reveals he wants to sell it to sinister arms dealers, but Arizona Goof manages to foil his plan. From that day Kranz becomes the main enemy of Arizona Goof. Expert in disguises, he haunts his eternal enemy to steal his fortune and glory.
