Janice Hirake was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. Holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander, she served as Tactical Officer of the heavy cruiser HMS War Maiden. She did not like having to carry a sidearm. (HHA3.1: MMH)
