The Onga are a fictional Congo river basin tribe in the short story "Facts concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family". The Onga retained cultural memory and legends regarding the "white apes" of the nearby jungle ruins. Arthur Jermyn spent time in their territory in his search for his heritage. Their name may be related to the Ngoe, or Nkongho language groups spoken by the Bantu peoples of what is now Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Cameroon. Additionally, Onga is a Congolese surname.
