Chancellor Palpatine's Chair of Office afforded its owner a high level of security. The chair was sheathed in ultra-dense lanthanide alloy armor, and was equipped with a defensive shield generator. A comlink built into the armrest allowed Palpatine direct communications with his aides and members of the Red Guard. The chair was positioned behind the Chancellor's desk, which was equipped with data feeds from his private office and holding office in the Senate Building. The private office contained three similar chairs with built-in communications devices. The chair used to restrain Palpatine during the Battle of Coruscant inside the General's quarters on the Invisible Hand featured a similar design to the Chair of Office.
