PC Smith was one of the officers who conducted a drugs raid on the Rovers Return in August 2009. In an attempt to get revenge on adversary Becky Granger after she'd been found not-guilty on a previous charge, corrupt officer DC Hooch had arranged for her ex-boyfriend Slug to plant drugs and money and, following the false tip-off, police officers obtained a warrant and conducted a thorough search of the premises and customers whilst Becky and Steve McDonald's wedding reception was in full-swing.
