The Progress Party leadership election was held between July 3974 and November of the same year, it resulted in surprise election of James Fulkirk, who had only received 4.8% of the vote in the Presidential Primary in the same year. His recent election to the Parliament made him a viable leadership candidate and following the humiliating defeat of the party, his once fringe and populist policies and ideas seemed the right direction to go.
