Rian Johnson is an American filmmaker who will be writing and directing Star Wars Episode VIII and writing a story treatment for Star Wars Episode IX. His involvement in the sequel trilogy was confirmed by his publicist. Past film work includes Brick, The Brothers Bloom, and Looper, as well as directing three episodes of the hit television series Breaking Bad.
