Betty Morton Powell (birth name Elizabeth Shipton) appeared in Coronation Street in June 1963 as a Customer in Frank Barlow's newly-opened DIY shop. The wife of Street regular Arthur Leslie, this was almost her only television role in a long career which was exclusively on stage, quite often in theatre companies which also employed her husband. Their son, Anthony Broughton also appeared several times in the programme.
