Ren Kalanent Viss was a female Alonis and a Starfleet lieutenant who served aboard Deep Space 9 as communications officer. She manned the communications console during a battle simulation in which Deep Space 9 fought off the USS Defiant, disguised as an Emerald-class Tholian juggernaut.
