In Chapter 6 Geirin Kuzunoha has to pass a trial in order to use Tao Tie's power to suck up the space where the Abysmal Realm stays in the sky. The trial requires him to defeat all the Geirins that preceded him. He is able to defeat all but two, when his illness keeps him from continuing. Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV and Nagi both arrive to fight the remaining Predecessors, with Nagi using her strength to beat one and leaving the other to Raidou. Halfway through the battle against him Geirin will use a soma on Raidou, stating that it wouldn't help him in the long run because of his illness. Once 25% of his health is taken, Geirin will finish the sigil that keeps the Predecessor in place, allowing Raidou to finish him.
