Raja Saif Ali Khan was born in 1924, the eldest son of Raja Jandad Khan from the village of Glotian in Sehnsa district, Azad Kashmir. In 1941, at the age of seventeen he joined the British Indian Army and was sent to fight the Japanese in the War in Burma where he proved himself to be a very brave and capable soldier.
