With the Hyksos banished from Egypt, the 18th Dynasty was initiated under the rulership of Ahmose. With the start of the 18th Dynasty, the New Kingdom became a period of expansion and prosperity that included the reigns of famous Egyptian rulers such as King Tut and Thutmose III. Then, during the 19th dynasty, Egypt prospered under Rameses the Great through his military campaigns but still ran into issues such as their war with the Hittities who threatened Egypt's control over Palestine. By the 20th dynasty, Egypt had lost their state of stability and were sent into another Intermediate Period.
