Hilda Wardle was Edwin Mason's fancy piece who accompanied him by car to Coronation Street in January 1961 when he decided to visit his recently bereaved niece Christine Hardman. Hilda stayed in the car but made Edwin get a box of chocolates from the Corner Shop for her. When he returned, they decided to spend the evening in her house. Edwin was apparently still having an affair with Hilda in April as Joe Makinson used his knowledge of this to gain his approval to see Christine.
