Eztiel was a Serakym and one of Mavetiel's charges who was convinced that stopping time would save all reality from destruction. He is the youngest of the group but seems to be the more rational (though still completely unstable) and actually considered that the Doctor's claims of an alternative could be possible. However, he was unable to be assertive enough towards his brethren, especially with the obsessively devout Shotiel.
