The Dowisetrepla district is the fictional neighborhood in New York City where Marshall and Lily's apartment is located. They first purchased the apartment at the end of 2007. However it was only after buying it that they learnt that during the week, a nearby sewage treatment plant is open, causing the entire neighborhood to smell terrible. In mid 2010, an article titled "The Noses of New York Need a Hero" appeared in the New York Times. Although the most of the article is unreadable, it is most likely about Dowisetrepla and its horrible smell. (Natural History)
