Alice Tennyson is a student at Whateley. She was supposed to be giving a covert demonstration on the Laser Range (probably Range 3), but the people who were doing the secret broadcasts may have discovered she was working for Security and decided to dispose of her. However, she broke her leg, and Tennyo got substituted instead, quite by accident. Alice was recovering in Melbourne, one presumes a medical facility.
