FromSoftware, Inc. was formed on November 1, 1986, in Sasazuka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, by Naotoshi Zin. Originally it consisted of only four people with a capital stock of ¥2,100 million (which was roughly $12,572,215 in 1986). As of 2014 the company is owned by Kadokawa. FromSoftware is best known for their King's Field, Armored Core, and Dark Souls series. Their role-playing games are notable for eschewing anime aesthetics and offering a considerable degree of free-form exploration and challenge.
