Mariska carried a white fan around with her at all times, and was fond of the norska that were being raised by Prince Vilmos. Mariska did not believe it was necessary to take drastic measures to protect the Old Palace, but encouraged a strategy of containment against the Tree growing in Miklos' room, which she felt "served no purpose".
