Count Gruemon was the pilot of a timeship that needed Kevin Keene's Power Pad and Zapper to power it. He stole them while Kevin was at a picnic in Hyrule and used the timeship to pursue Pero, who had agreed to help Kevin and Link recover the stolen equipment. He and Dr. Gari-Gari headed to their world's version of New York City to celebrate his enemy's supposed demise, but Pero crashed their party and stole the timeship. Gruemon grabbed hold of it as Pero flew away, and vowed to catch him when he crash-landed and ran off into the desert.
