Type-XXI Phasers were a new form of phaser utilized in 2475, created as a experimental phaser setting in late-2475 by the Inventum's CTO. They contained a homogeneous mixture of Nadions and Positrons which acted in 1 part as a phaser and the other part a shield weakener. Since most shield were made up of electrical and/or energy currents, positrons were able to deaden their activity (electrons emit electromagnetic fields and energy) allowing for the phaser to perforate the enemy shields. With a maximum yield of 960 GJ (230 tons of tnt) type-XXI phasers packed in quite a punch.
