The Elite Guards of the Cylon Imperium, and later Crimson Empire, were more than mere bodyguards. They were elite soldiers, dedicated to do anything to protect those they served. In great times of need, the Elite Guards could serve as battleground soldiers. However, this was not their primary function. They were previously charged with guarding the Cylon Imperium's Emperor, the Executor, and other high ranking members, but have since expanded that role throughout the Crimson Empire. Standard equipment for Elite Guards were vibroswords, high powered blaster rifles, and blaster pistols.
