Squirreling is the act of defining the Scope of the debate differently than it is intended to be defined, so as to throw the opponent off guard. It is generally frowned upon, but many teams use it as a Strategy, most notably the Henry Wise Wood Dream Team. Until recently it was only grounds for Silent Disqualification, but as of the 2007-08 season, it is now grounds for Open Disqualification as well, even though this is not within their jurisdiction. This is most likely due to its excessive use by the Dream Team in previous years.
