Engineers? takes place in the dimension of science fiction cliches. Torg and Riff are impersonating engineers aboard the UCP Wastestar Toxica, which dumps toxic waste into a dimensional rift that they can use to get back to the Sluggyverse. They meet First Officer Brenas, and convince the Sci-fi Captain that they know what they are doing by making up big words and sounding important. After playing around with the ship's systems, the two are sent to a space station (along with expendable crew members) to restore the main systems.
